New Zealand Supercars round confirmed for 2021
The MotorSport New Zealand team is excited that the Repco Supercars Championship will visit New Zealand for a round of their 2021 championship.
The New Zealand round of the Supercars championship, also the country’s largest annual sporting event, was set to take place in 2020 before COVID-19 lockdowns put the brakes on motorsport across both sides of the ditch.
To allow as much time as possible for travel restrictions to ease, Supercars have elected to place the New Zealand round at the back end of their calendar, currently set as the penultimate round on 6-7 November.
“Supercars is the premier motorsport championship in Australasia and one that kiwi motorsport fans really resonate with,” said Elton Goonan, Acting CEO of MotorSport New Zealand.
“It’s New Zealand’s largest sporting event which provides a huge economic return to the wider Auckland region and it’s also a great event to showcase some of New Zealand’s best racing classes to a wider audience.”
Whilst a venue is yet to be confirmed, MotorSport New Zealand will continue to work with Supercars to accommodate the New Zealand event and provide support where needed.
