Manawatu Car Club Winter Series event cancelled due to suspected medical event
A competitor has been transported to Palmerston North Hospital in a critical condition after suffering a suspected medical event during a race at the Manawatu Car Club Winter Series event at Manfeild on Sunday 3 July.
The remainder of the event has been cancelled under force majeure both in respect to the competitor and to allow officials to properly investigate and review the incident.
“Our thoughts and best wishes are with the competitor and their family at this time,” said MotorSport New Zealand CEO Elton Goonan.
“I want to thank and acknowledge the Manawatu Car Club volunteer officials and the emergency service personnel who did an outstanding job in responding swiftly to this incident.”
MotorSport New Zealand will make no further comment at this time and asks that the privacy of the competitor and their family be respected.
