Leitch aiming to extend lead in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe Championship in Valencia

Having taken his maiden victory at the last round of the 2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe Championship in Germany, Kiwi driver Brendon Leitch is hungry for more heading to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Cheste (Spain) this weekend. Leitch currently leads the series with the objective of increasing his points come Sunday evening.

“It should be cool,” said Leitch. “I’m really looking forward to getting into it again.”

Consistency has been the key for Leitch in the six Super Trofeo races so far this season, finishing each one on the podium. At the halfway point of the series, the Leipert Motorsport team driver now has a 10.5-point lead over second placed Vincenzo Sospiri Racing’s Mattia Michelotto.

“I think we should be quick. We have tested there for a couple of days. It’s a neat circuit ideally set up for MotoGP, very technical with a number of slow corners.”

The series sees two one-hour practice sessions on Friday with two 20-minute qualifying sessions on Saturday morning and the first of two 50-minute races in the afternoon. The second race takes place on Sunday. Circuit Ricardo Tormo, named after Spanish two-time world champion Grand Prix motorcycle racer Ricardo Tormo (1952–1998) and also known as Circuit de Valencia, is a 4.005 km motorsport racetrack located in Cheste (Valencian Community, Spain).

“The key is to set up our Dayle ITM backed #86 Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 to turn on a knife edge. We made good progress when testing and I think that we are in the right window.

“At this stage rain is forecast for Friday with dry weather on Saturday so could be a good challenge.

“I’d like another win but as long as I extend my championship lead a bit more then that will put us into a good spot to secure it. We will give it all we have got, make no mistakes and be smart.”
