Two scholarships on offer for 2025 Central Machine Hire Otago Rally

The Otago Rally is again offering two young driver scholarships in 2025, thanks to the support of naming rights sponsor Central Machine Hire.

Valued at more than $2,500 each, the scholarships are to encourage young drivers, preferably new to the Otago Rally, who might otherwise struggle to fund their entry into the event.

The scholarships have been made possible through the support of Central Machine Hire owner Allan Dippie.

When they came on board as sponsor, it was one of their immediate priorities to foster the next generation via assistance with scholarships. Allan is a long time competitor and supporter of rallying.

“I’ve got a huge amount of enjoyment out of the sport over the years, so to be able to support the next generation is a real pleasure,” he said.

“We have always got a really strong feel-good factor from being able to offer a scholarship,” Otago Rally spokesman, Roger Oakley, added.

“Last year’s recipients, Zeal Jones and Thomas Paul, both performed really well, and showed what the sport is all about.”

Young New Zealand competitors are encouraged to put in an application for one of the scholarships. At least one of the recipients awarded will be from the Otago region.

You can download the scholarship application flyer HERE, and email your entry to Tony Johnston: stonerally@hotmail.com

The rally is grateful for the support of Dunedin City Council Premier Event funding.
