BMW Race Driver Series Annual Scholarship Day celebrates its 10th anniversary
The BMW Race Driver Series is excited to have reached its 10th annual Scholarship Day, taking place at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park on Saturday, 17 August 2024. The day, organised in conjunction with The Motor Sport Club, offers an opportunity for aspiring race drivers to compete for a coveted scholarship within the NEXEN Tyre E46 Class, while also providing a low-pressure environment for volunteers to train in various roles.
The Scholarship is open to individuals who have not previously competed in the BMW Race Driver Series aged 16 and older with a minimum of a restricted driver’s licence, or those aged 12 to 15 with a MotorSport NZ Junior C Grade licence. Applicants will receive brief driver tuition by Racing Ray Williams and having their driving skills judged by Mike Eady.
As part of the Scholarship, the lucky recipient will receive for the 2024-2025 season; a race-ready BMW E46 320i, Annual membership to BMW Car Club NZ, Annual series registration fee, Round entry fees, Mechanical support and consumables for general wear and tear, Four brand new series control tyres, One set of race brakes, Race driver tuition from Mike Eady of Tracktime.
The 2023 season marked a historic milestone with the first female winner of the Scholarship; Emily Robb, and the 2023-2024 season saw an increased participation of four female competitors within the class, highlighting the growing diversity in the sport. Application Process:
