SS Cup Set to Celebrate 10 Years of Grassroots Motorsport
One of New Zealand’s most accessible and competitive racing series is about to hit a significant milestone. The Sport Saloons Cup (SS Cup) will celebrate its 10th anniversary season in 2025/26.
Since its launch, SS Cup has become a fan favourite on the South Island motorsport calendar, renowned for its wheel-to-wheel racing, diverse range of cars, and unique handicap race format that keeps spectators guessing until the final lap.
“SS Cup was revived to fill the gap between 2K Cup and OSCA,” says Debbie Wendelborn, Series Coordinator for SS Cup.
“Ten years later, it’s amazing to see how far the series has come, and this season will be our biggest yet.”
The anniversary season will feature large grids, increased media coverage, and special celebrations honouring the drivers, crews, and sponsors who have shaped the championship over the past decade.
“You can walk our pit lane and see everything from high-tech race machines to budget builds, and they’re all out there fighting for the same trophy. That’s the magic of SS Cup,” says Debbie.
“Every round, every race, and every lap over the last decade has been about passion and people. The racing is the glue, but it’s the SS Cup community that makes this series truly special.”
The 2025/26 season kicks off on the 6th of September at Euromarque Motorsport Park and will visit other iconic South Island circuits, including Highlands Motorsport Park, Teretonga Park, and Levels Raceway.
