Revitalised Nexen Tyre Mazda Racing Super Series on the way
New branding and an opportunity to create a revitalised offering to their members and to motorsport. That is the promise as the newly named Nexen Tyre Mazda Racing Super Series prepares for an exciting new dawn as the 2025/2026 season approaches.
“We have taken an opportunity to sharpen our direction which is that of a national series and a true national offering,” says series spokesperson Steven Spear.
“While we already have a successful series our new direction represents more than just racing. We’ve talked about it for a while, it is about creating a stronger pathway for drivers, sponsors and fans with a series that showcases competitive, affordable motorsport. It will give someone the opportunity to be crowned New Zealand Champion and while we will still recognise our top performers in each island, ultimately the focus is on the New Zealand Champion.”
The series is recognised as a Tier 1 Accredited Series and over the past couple of years it has consistently provided some of the best racing seen on the national scene while series graduates have gone on to success in categories such as the GR86 Championship.
The new format of the 2025/2026 Nexen Tyre Mazda Racing Super Series will take place at five different circuits across the nation, commencing at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon in Feilding from 24 to 26 October before the second round at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park in North Waikato over the weekend of 22/23 November.
After Christmas the series travels south for a double header on successive weekends, the first at Teretonga Park, Invercargill, over the weekend from 23-25 January and then a week later as a support category at the New Zealand Grand Prix at Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell, Central Otago.
The action then returns to Hampton Downs over the weekend of 14/15 March before the finale at Taupō International Motorsport Park on 28/29 March.
At the conclusion of six weekends of what is bound to be superb racing at some of the country’s highest profile race meetings, a new National Nexen Tyre Mazda Racing Super Series Champion will be crowned.
