New Zealand motorsport images finalists in World Sports Photography Awards
Two images taken at MotorSport New Zealand permitted events have been announced as finalists in the ‘motorsport’ category of the 2024 World Sports Photography Awards.
The World Sports Photography Awards is the world’s biggest and most prestigious sports photography competition. Over 22,000 entries are received annually across a wide range of categories.
New Zealand photographers Tayler Burke, Marton, and John Cowpland, Napier, have made the cut in the 2024 edition of the awards.
Burke, the 2024 recipient of the MotorSport New Zealand Photographer of the Year and President’s Award for Best Single Shot, has made the finals for his shot of Hayden Paddon and John Kennard making a splash at the 2023 Rally Bay of Plenty. The same image secured the President’s Award for Best Single Shot in 2024.
Cowpland’s image captures the infamous “jump” that is often experienced over the bridge at Highlands Motorsport Park. Taken during the 2023 Formula Regional Oceania Championship, Cowpland’s shot features American racer Chloe Chambers flying over the fast section of the track.
The winners of the various are expected to be announced later during the course of this month.
