Full support category line up confirmed for Taupō Super400

The support category line-up for Supercars’ inaugural visit to Taupō International Motorsport Park has been locked in, with four racing categories set to join the Repco Supercars Championship at April’s ITM Taupō Super400.

Following Tuesday’s announcement of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia joining the bill as Supercars returns to New Zealand, another three local series can also be confirmed for the highly-anticipated event.

Additional on-track competition will be held by New Zealand’s NAPA Central Muscle Cars, Toyota Gazoo Racing 86 Series, and Formula Ford series’, ensuring a bumper line-up of racing from a wide range of Australasian racers.

Next year’s event will be the third on the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship calendar, and will mark the first New Zealand event since the championship’s final appearance at Pukekohe Park Raceway in 2022.

Supercars CEO Shane Howard has lauded the competitive line-up for the championship’s first visit to Taupō, which has generated strong interest since ticket sales opened last week.

“As we gear up for our debut at Taupō in April, we’re thrilled to offer fans some of the most exciting categories on track over all three days of the event,” Howard said.

“With Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, Central Muscle Cars, the Toyota Gazoo Racing 86 Series, and Formula Ford on the undercard, fans of all kinds will have something to get behind, with a number of local drivers gearing up for a crack at line honours on home turf.

“Tickets are on sale now and we urge fans to get in early to secure their seats trackside for what will be a memorable addition to our proud history of racing in New Zealand.”

Taupō will be the 35th different venue to host a Supercars/ATCC championship event, and the third such venue in New Zealand after Pukekohe and the Hamilton Street Circuit.

For Porsche Carrera Cup, the event will mark just the second time the Australian championship has ventured outside of Australia, the other time being a visit to Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit in 2017.

The event forms a marquee piece of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship calendar, which was announced in full last week.
Tickets for the ITM Taupō Super400 are now available at Supercars.com and via Ticketek NZ.
