Fastest line-up yet for Starship Supercar Show
The groundbreaking success of Kiwi racer Brendon Hartley will be celebrated at this year’s Starship Supercar Show, with his 2018 Toro Rosso Formula One car joining a replica version of the Porsche 919 he drove to one of his three victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
A four-time World Endurance Champion, Hartley put New Zealand back in Formula One, making 25 starts for Toro Rosso in 2017-18, and becoming the first Kiwi F1 points-scorer in 44 years. Seven years later, the team is now called Racing Bulls, with compatriot Liam Lawson behind the wheel.
Hartley says, “I wish I could be at this event, it’s the sort of show I dreamed about going to when I was growing up. Still, it’s great to have my F1 car there, and even better that Kiwis will be able to get close to it. As a parent, the work that Starship do means more than ever, so to be able to support such an awesome cause is amazing.”
The third edition of the Supercar Show promises to be the most valuable yet, with a total collection estimated to be worth well over $100 million. The ultra-rare cars include a pair of Aston Martin Valkyries, a 1964 Lamborghini 400GT, and the only Ferrari SF90XX in New Zealand.
“Our goal is to create an unforgettable experience for car fans of all ages”, says Michael Giltrap, Joint Managing Director – Giltrap Group. “Our collection this time spans almost a century, celebrating every era of high-performance cars, from a 1929 Bentley to the space-age McLaren Speedtail.”
Porsche fans will be able to see the covers come off one of the rarest 911s ever built: the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25.
Built to celebrate 25 years of victories at Le Mans and record-setting runs at the Nürburgring, the ‘25’ is the result of a joint venture between Porsche, designed as the ultimate track day and race car. Only 30 were built, and the Supercar Show will feature the only one in the Southern Hemisphere.
The 700-horsepower Porsche will be joined by the latest and most sought-after road-going 911, the S/T, in an exciting new motorsport-themed Stuttgart Showcase being created for the September Show.
A new look Hall of Hypercars will showcase some of the world’s fastest and most desirable cars, with the always popular Ferrari F40 starring in the Classic Supercar display.
The 2025 Show introduces a new collection dubbed the Rally Gods. The collection features a celebration of the 1980s, including the late Possum Bourne’s first Subaru Rally Car, a Group B Audi Quattro, and one of only 207 road-going versions of the World Championship-winning Lancia 037.
The Supercar Show has raised over $400,000 for the Starship Foundation since 2021. This is a testament to the generosity of car owners and Kiwi businesses, and every cent raised from ticket sales goes towards supporting the vital work of Starship.
A unique opportunity for car enthusiasts to get up close to the world’s most exciting cars, including some of the rarest and most sought-after models, the show is held across four levels of Giltrap Groups’ flagship headquarters in Auckland’s Grey Lynn. More than 80 cars, ranging from Formula One racers to ultra-rare hypercars and classic supercars, will be on display at the eight sessions staged across the weekend.
Following the success of the extended format in 2023, the Giltrap Group is again hosting the event across the first weekend of the school holidays, giving car enthusiasts from across New Zealand the best possible opportunity to experience the biennial celebration of the fastest, rarest, and coolest cars in the world.
To keep the event accessible for families, the ticket price remains $25, the same as in 2023, with children aged four and under admitted free of charge. Find out more at www.supercarshow.co.nz
