Wayne Scott appointed as interim CEO of MotorSport New Zealand

Experienced motorsport official and senior manager, Wayne Scott, has been appointed as the interim Chief Executive Officer of MotorSport New Zealand following Elton Goonan’s resignation.

Scott, who has previously served as MotorSport New Zealand’s Chief Steward and on the organisation’s executive, has been appointed by the Board to fulfil the CEO role on an interim basis while they assess the strategic direction of the role and complete recruitment for a full-time appointment.

An accountant by qualification, Scott has held a range of senior management positions during his professional career, making him well placed to lead the organisation during this phase when coupled with his intricate knowledge of the sport.

“We are delighted to have Wayne as our interim CEO to provide stability as we search for a permanent CEO who will lead the organisation into the future,” said MotorSport New Zealand President Deborah Day.

“His leadership and experience in motorsport and his professional career will ensure a smooth transition and continued progress for the organisation.”

As well as serving senior roles within MotorSport New Zealand, Scott is well regarded as an FIA Steward, officiating for motorsport’s global governing body at international events around the world. In 2009 Scott was also made a Member d’Honneur of MotorSport New Zealand, an honour akin to a traditional ‘life membership’ commonly bestowed upon dedicated individuals.

Scott begins the role with immediate effect.
